The Hop Kiln Reviews

The accommodation was spacious and very clean. It would benefit from a few extra items of crockery as we had to wash us constantly as mostly only one item per person. It would also be good to have a few games and playing cards left for future users.
Jackie
Really enjoyed our stay, fab property and had everything we needed. Location was great, such beautiful countryside and we loved the farm. Thank you Jane for a lovely stay and hope to be back again soon.
Andrew
Thanks for a lovely stay, house was great, friendly welcome, and our son in particular loved seeing the dogs, it made his weekend! The kids also loved the play area.
Gillian
The location is lovely and the property a good size. However the kitchen equipment is very basic and there was barely enough crockery to go round which made cooking for 8 tricky. The beds are rickety and could do with tightening to stop the loud squeaks. I also think you could do with warning people about the dogs, whilst my group were happy with it and liked playing with them I know several people who are quite scared of dogs and it would ruin their holiday having 4 large dogs invading their space.
Fabulous place. Loved it! Great location and lovely peaceful place to stay. Lovely, friendly farm dogs added to the experience. Would highly recommend!!
Well equipped lovely venue. Nice owners and lovely surroundings. Would recommend and cant wait to stay next year
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, peaceful farm location. Very comfortable, spacious holiday home with private garden.
Alison
As a family we had gathered for a funeral, this ideal location provided a safe place for us all, allowed those of us that wished to the chance to explore by foot the immediate area. There was everything we needed close to other facilities if wed needed them. Thank you
Christopher
Great property in a lovely part of the country, a pleasant stay in a friendly village setting
Phillip
The cottage was lovely, loads of space and we had a great time. Thank you very much.
Bernard
Very spacious and well presented property, perfect for a family or large group. We thoroughly enjoyed our New Year break.
Very friendly hosts, great venue in a lovely location.
We only stayed for 3 nights and had dinner out on two nights. However, it would be useful to know what to bring as it varies from property to property. We brought kitchen roll and dishwasher tablets but they were provided, we didn't bring cooking oil but none was provided. There were very small pots of salt and pepper which were nearly exhausted. Sykes should give lists of what each property should supply so that guests do not have to transport a mobile kitchen to each property. I offer this not as a criticism of the Hop Kiln owners who were both friendly and most welcoming but to help people like us who rent several properties each year.
Richard
Lovely house in a fantastic country setting. Living area was brilliant just what we needed for 8 staying with 2 occasional day guests who ate with us. Kitchen was small but manageable ideally could have done with an extra fridge but we did have a A LOT of food with it being Christmas and 10 of us eating. The pictures on the site dont do the house justice. Being on the farm with access to lots of different walks was amazing, and Flop the dog joined us on more than one walk! The only negative were some of the mattresses could do with an upgrade. Other than that perfect and would definitely go back.
Thomas
Nice, comfortable spot with plenty of room for us all.
Excellent stay. Accommodating hosts in a lovely area. Met all our needs for our holiday.
We enjoyed a great week at the Hop Kiln. We were returning to Herefordshire for a family wedding having relocated a year ago. It was wonderful to be back in such glorious countryside. The house is in such a peaceful setting and is comfortable and well equipped which led to a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The owners were friendly and helpful . I would recommend the Hop Kiln as a great base to explore a beautiful area or just to sit back and relax enjoying the rural idyll.
Very spacious and beautiful property. Perfect for a relaxing holiday. Friendly and nice host, thank you Hop Kiln.
Lovely property, with a well equipped kitchen. Perfect if you want to stay in the countryside away from urban noise. Grandchildren especially liked the play area.
Roxanne
This is a lovely property, quiet area. Was a bit tricky to find but we got there in the end.
Owners were brilliant on hand for any queries. Place layout was brilliant and perfect for socialising.
Kimberley
Really spacious accommodation, far more open plan than we expected and well stocked with everything we needed for our young family. Friendly, helpful hosts. Some may not appreciate the farm dogs, but they are well trained and obedient and our kids loved playing with them. Highly recommend this place, as long as you have a driver. As stated in their spec it is pretty remote.
This lovely converted hop kiln was absolutely wonderful. The real bonus was the on site play park, seeing the animals with being on a working farm. My girls adored the farm dogs so friendly with the young ones. Nice enclosed garden with bbq. Kitchen is well equipped. We will definitely be back again.
Anne-Sophie
We were a group of 6 friends and had a lovely stay in the property. A little issue was fixed immediately by the owner who was really helpful and responsive. Loved the seating area which was very spacious and comfortable. The bedrooms had good quality mattress so we all slept really well. The garden atrss as was very pleasant as well. A second set of cutlery would have been useful to bed avoid using the dishwasher half full twice a day more. Loads to explore in the area so all in all a lovely relaxing staying in a great property. Thank you.
Maxine
Beautiful surroundings and lovely place to stay
George
We had a very successful summer week here with extended family. Tenbury Wells has a lovely park, playground and tennis courts and we played there every day. Nearby pubs include The Fountain and we visited their garden as often ! The owner of the Hop Kiln Mrs Phillips was very flexible and helpful in working with our accommodation requests.
Christopher
The property is absolutely lovely. We were unfortunate in that we arrived in the middle of horrendous floods, and were trapped in the property and local area for a few days, and it was big enough that nobody went stir crazy. There are plenty of books and games to keep the kids engaged and occupy your mind. TV connection is good. The kitchen is capable of feeding a house full of people, and the cooker is good. The heating clicks and bangs a little when it starts up in the morning. The only real downside is the connectivity. Mobile phone connection is quite poor, and inside the house is only available in a few tiny locations. Outside is better. WiFi connection is very slow and intermittent. Speedtest reported the download speed at 0.2 MBPS and upload at 7 MBPS at one point. If you are travelling to get internet connectivity you might want to rethink your plans. Outside the property, there are lots of attractions to visit, and the area is positively bristling with beautiful scenery. We plan to revisit some time soon when the weather is more favourable.
Lovely place to meet up for a girls weekend and dog friendly too. .
Everything about the stay was wonderful. Extremely friendly and helpful.
Really friendly owners who were very helpful. Fantastic property that met our needs. Very highly recommended.
Alison
Lovely place, very rural, fine if you don't mind being far from everything, although nearest town is only 10mins away. It is situated in a very good area for visiting many tourist attrations.Well equipped kitchen although could have been better if a little larger. We were lucky to have a hot weekend for an easter family get together. The host was very obliging & cleaned up the BBQ for us, which we used. The patio furniture requires either replacing, or revarnishing, though. On a working farm, we experienced the added bonus of seeing a lamb born. Lovely place, Would recommend.
The Hop Kiln gets top marks in all categories! Spacious, wellequipped and comfortable, it was perfect for us and our guests. The Phillips family was welcoming and helpful, loaning nag me their own large pot when I wanted to make a stew and making my husbands dream come true when he got to deliver a new baby lamb. Our experience was wonderful, exactly what we wanted, and I would recommend a stay there to anyone!
Elaine
Beautiful house, very well equipped. Lovely and clean nice welcoming owners. Plenty of space for 8 adults without getting under each others feet.Comfy sofas to lounge around on and a good sized dining table. Good sleep quality too. Very quiet outside as house on working farm. Good range of places to visit in near vicinity which we did!! Good supply of brochures and guide books about the area provided. I would recommend the Tenbury Fish Bar we were able to phone in an order to be collected later in the evening. Word of warning very, very generous portions! I would very highly recommend this house for family and friends
Joanna
The cottage was spacious downstairs & fairly well equipped, although a hairdryer would have been useful. We did find that the walls between us& the next door cottage were very thin & we could hear conversation on the other side. The cottage is well located amidst beautiful countryside and there is plenty to see & do, with a very useful information basket in the cottage
House was perfect for what we needed spotless throughout and well equiped.
Catrin
The hop kiln was lovely. Clean spacious and with all the amenities you would need and more. It was located in the beautiful countryside quiet and tranquil.
Fantastic cottage with really friendly owners. Clean, comfy and really accommodating very much recommended.
Trevor
Ideal house for family get togethers, Excellent facilities in a beautiful part of the country. Friendly owner next door if required, spotlessly clean accommodation, Top quality.
Lesley
We really enjoyed staying at the Hop Kiln. The owner was very helpful and welcoming, the cottage had lots of space and was really comfortable. We would recommend staying here.
Theresa
After being let down on 2 accommodations, not on this site, I can only say third time lucky! This accommodation was beyond our dreams, a working farm, no less. My Daughter celebrated her 30th Birthday, helping a sheep give birth! What an amazing experience this was. Romers Farm, was just delightful, the farmer, his wife and whole family, went above and beyond, to make sure we had a good time. Needless to say we had the best of times.
