The Willows, Cockshutt

Lovely stay at the Willows. As others have said photos don't tell the story. Lots of room inside and out for all generations. As well as room for dogs to run. Pool we'll used.

We stayed at this quiet, peaceful and spacious property in 2018 for a family holiday and decided to return again this year. We knew what to expect regarding it's layout, location and facilities but we were quite surprised to see it looking so 'tired'. It's a great place to stay but could do with being 'refreshed'. The conservatory has been upgraded and has great comfort and functionality but it could do with some roof window blinds. The beds were comfortable but the ensuite areas were a little dirty. Room 7's shower hose was leaking near the head and the main bathroom door doesn't lock from the inside which can be embarrassing for the occupant! Our previous visit was during a warm summer spell but this time we felt the Spring chill. Many radiators seem to require bleeding and we could've done with an odd additional blanket andor quilt. The bath towels could also have been bigger. The kitchen has more space in it now that the large fridge has been relocated since our previous visit. The dishwasher proved to be problematic as its tablet dispenser was broken and it didn't clean properly until an alternative location for the tablet was used. The issue was reported and Sykes feedback offered which blamed a previous guest with the fault already being a known issue but not to us! There's plenty of kitchen utensils and crockery but some cups have chips on the lips and could do with being replaced. No problems this time with the kitchen electrics or the boiler and the free wifi availability was very much appreciated by all family members, young and old. The outdoor covered pool was again, a most welcome facility however it's water temperature fell short of the claimed value, even with the cover applied after every session. The entrance door needs repairing as its badly warped and won't close properly. Taking all of our observations into account this is still a great place to gather offering a spacious, comfortable single level dwelling with many enhancements and utilities with plenty of offroad parking spaces and outdoor spaces. It's location is in a quiet rural environment ideal as a base camp for exploring but beware of the local roads! The nearby factory generates a lot of lorry traffic and some of the pot holes are dangerous!

We had a lovely weekend here celebrating our granddaughters 16th birthday. Nice ensuite bedrooms for everyone 14 of us , lovely pool, plenty of space for younger ones to play.

This was our second time there. This speaks for itself. 13 of us including 3 children for grandsons 21st birthday celebrations. The swimming pool is a massive plus for us. Our lovely cavalier dog enjoyed it too. Lots of room outside for him to run too. We will surely be back in the future.

Great place to stay for large groups with all generations catered for.

We booked this cottage for my auntie and uncles 50th wedding anniversary and what can I say its unreal. The picture really dont show this property justice. The main living roomkitchen is huge and fitted all 18 of us easily round the table for party games and drinks. The pool is a bonus and nice and warm. Bedroom are basic but that's all you need,most of them had showers but all had toilets. We are definitely booking again for next year. Xx

Booked The Willow for my husbands 60th birthday. There was 10 adults and our 6 grandchildren plus 4 dogs. The driveway was more than plenty of room for our 5 cars. Well impressed with the property, more than my expectations. All 9 bedrooms had everything we needed. Very comfy beds. Has we entered into the living roomdining room, it was a WOW from all of us. So spacious. Plenty of seating for all of us. The large TV was a hit with everyone. The kitchen was nice and modern with plenty of plates, cups, glasses, cutlery etc etc. There were 3 large fridge freezers so more than plenty of room for our fresh food and ice cubes for my gin & tonic. Has we entered outside, the garden was amazing. Plenty of seating near the very large bbq. All the dogs were very happy having a large secure garden to run around, it felt very safe. The football pitch was a hit with the men and boys of the family has was the pool with the whole of the family. Much bigger than it looks on the photos. All in all we all had a great 3 nights stay. Everyone is wanting me to book next year for my 60th, which I'm looking into. Would definitely recommend for a large gathering.

The Willows was perfectly adequate for our extended family of 18 plus 3 dogs. A great place for a family gettogether with plenty of space for everyone. The warm swimming pool was in constant use by all of us, as was the football area. The large dining and living area were very comfortable. The enormous bbq was a bonus too. While the property is a bit dated in places, it definitely didnt take away from our overall experience.The Willows still felt very welcoming and had all the essentials we needed for a comfortable stay.

We had a great family holiday at The Willows, the set up is very good. ..9 bedrooms all on ground floor and all en suite with comfy beds. The conservatory has 6 sofs's and also chairs with an extra large tv and PS5. Very large dining room and good size kitchen. Outside there is a big garden with pagoda, bbq, picnic benches and seating areas. Also 5 sun loungers. Further on in the garden is a small football pitch with goals and off this is a small area with wild flowers. In a separate building there is the swimming pool which the kids and adults loved, much time was spent here. This is a great set up for a large family holiday, we are already thinking about booking it again!

We all loved this accommodation so much we have re booked for March '26. Another family birthday weekend. Loved the indoor pool. Everything lovely and a good price. Very spacious inside and out.

Absolutely loved our stay. The pictures are a little dated and do not do it justice. There is a football pitch, lovely seating area. Sun loungers, climbing frame. Its all enclosed so the kids can be free. The pool was a hit with kids and adults. We bbq every day we were there and we actually booked again for next year whilst we were there. We have come away with so many memories, highly recommend this cottage. There were 20 of us stayed at the cottage.

A fantastic time enjoyed by all the family 20 at the Willows. The bedrooms have ensuite and the open kitchendininglounge area was great for the family to be together. Adults and children from 13yrs to 5yrs were kept occupied with the Football area, swimming pool and large screen TV. The whole family Played games in the large garden area while the BBQ was cooking. Highly recommend the Willows for family memories. It really was the perfect accommodation for our busy family to get away and reconnect. We will be booking to come back in 2026.

Such an enjoyable stay with the whole family. Perfect for any age. Such lovely grounds to play and relax in. Pool was amazing!! Will be back again!

This was a wonderful place for 3 generations to celebrate our golden wedding, my son's 20th anniversary, granddaughter's 17th birthday and Mothering Sunday, all in one week end! All 9 bedrooms have a toilet and shower or wash basin. We could all sit round the massive table for our meals and the children loved the big screen TV. The pool and football pitch were a great success and the time went too quickly. We would definitely rebook for a similar occasion. The property is very rural and quiet.

A great comfortable and practical home for a big family get together. Ages 9 months to 70 all enjoyed it.

Absolutely loved our holiday once again here at the Willows, ticks all the boxes for what we need. The swimming pool seemed to have a high concentration of chlorine in it this time, everyone who used it came out with sore eyes and some of the children coughing from it. We only used it once. It didnt take anything away from the holiday though and was just a small thing I wanted to mention. Properly was clean, kitchen well equipped, loved the work to the conservatory area, TV well set up, and Christmas decs looked lovely. Thank you so much have already booked for next year!

Great property for a large group. We had such a good time. No negatives but just a couple of extras would enhance our stay. A couple of nest of tables for putting drinks and nibbles on while sitting in the conservatory. All bedrooms were lovely and the convenience of toilets in bedrooms as well as one in the dining area made the stay so comfortable for all. We have booked again for next year and we are hoping for better weather to use the lovely outdoor space. The pool was definitely a great addition to the enjoyment. All round a great property. Also the communication from the owner was first class. Putting the Christmas tree up for us was a lovely touch . Looking forward to next year

Lower dishwasher rack still not repaired. Did not wash properly and eject tablet. Room 6 cold tap and toilet seat need attention. Where were the oven gloves and water jugs? Towel rails in individual bathrooms would help, difficult to dry pool and shower towels. Bathshower mats missing from rooms with enuite showers. Storage shelf in bathroom would be appreciated. Some said the fabric conditioner on the sheets was an overwhemingly unpleasant smell. Otherwise, a great house for 8 'old' ladies having a school reunion, enjoyed the pool, well equipped kitchen, plenty of freezer and fridge space. Would consider a repeat visit.

Would have been 5 stars except the dishwasher was both too small and the bottom tray did not fit properly. It resulted in dishes not cleaning properly and we had to handwash. Although plenty of pint and wine glasses, some more tumblers would have been nice. Otherwise we had a great time and especially loved the outdoor space. Everywhere was very clean and the showers had plenty of hot water delivered at a nice pressure.

A good size accommodation for large family groups. Well equipped kitchen but another oven definitely required if cooking for 1516 plus people.1 fan oven and 1 standard oven just not sufficient.Other than that everything else in good supply.

This property is a mixed bag! Some amazing features, the garden space, football pitch, BBQ, Sonos, huge TV and PS5 are all outstanding, strangely not mentioned or shown in photos and these were all fabulous! However, the attached property not mentioned on the site is incredibly scruffy and dubious looking with blacked out windows, definitely made us feel uneasy on arrival. I'm not sure the cleaners had done the floors as there was dog hair everywhere, so the first thing we did was sweep and mop. The outdoor seating is a little tired and well worn, not sure how much longer some of it will last.....the pool house looks like a falling down shed from the outside but inside is lovely, and the pool was clean, warm and much larger than anticipated. The sofas in the living room, although plentiful are also on their last legs, with little stuffing support in places. The showers were also incredibly scruffy, blackened silicone, leaking trays etc. The place would definitely benefit from some TLC. For our stay it provided a big space for a family get together, which was lovely, and certainly made the most of it and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, however if you are looking for luxury, this is not the place for you.

What an amazing find. The house is very well kitted out for a family holiday. The children, and adults, loved the pool and there were even inflatables on the side. The outside has BBQ griddle was amazing. We had an evening BBQ and then used it for bacon and eggs on the Sunday morning. The garden space with a children's climbing frame, slide and swing as well as a football field and lots of outside picnic tables, some under cover, meant that we were all able to enjoy family activities. The beds were comfy and the showers lovely and hot. A really wonderful find.

I would, absolutely, recommend this holiday let property and say that the photos of it certainly do not do it justice. My family and I 9 adults and 1 toddler had the most amazing holiday at the Willows which was well equipped, spotlessly clean and spacious. The swimming pool was an added bonus along with the horses in the adjacent paddockstable. The beds were extremely comfortable and we all slept well. Will be returning in the future.

Once again we had a fabulous week at The Willows. There was something for everyone, with the pool being a very popular attraction. The updated loungedining room flooringdecoration and new pool lining were done very well and demonstates the commitment of the owner to provide high quality accomodation. We all had such a great time we've already booked to come back again next year, which will be our fourth visit to The Willows.

Was perfect for our family group of 20 and 2 dogs. All very clean,pool brilliant,loads of room,all the kitchen equipment for big groups,lovely quiet area with safe walks from site,very modern tv and sound system,3 big fridge freezers and a wash house at back. Ideal place we will use again. We went mid March and it was always warm in side. Bet the gardens look great in Summer and offers loads, including small football pitch,swings and slide and the pool. The owner mentioned adding a filter coffee machine soon, which would be perfect as we all spent alot of time catching up, sat mainly around the massive dining table on very comfy chairs. Congratulations to the owners,they have a very affordable and decent property for large groups.

We absolutely loved our stay at the cottage. It exceeded all expectations and we, as a large family cant wait to come back.

The photos on this listing need updating, they do not do the place justice. It is lovely, homely and comfortable and well equipt. Plenty of space, we knew we had extras rooms but needed a house big enough for family and pets. There were 12 of us and 2 dogs who attended in the end. The kitchen has everything we needed, large table and lounge with space for all of us. Outside area is lovely, we made the most given our visit in February, kids playing on football pitch, lovely seating area opposite and the pool in our building was added bonus take flip flops for transport! Would definitely recommend this place and visit again. Thank you

Perfect getaway. Lovely spacious bungalow, great grounds outside and the pool was such a bonus!

Had a long weekend to celebrate my husbands 80th birthday. 16 adults and 4 children were well accommodated. The indoor pool was a hit with the kids and some adults and the property itself was well equipped and very clean. Being winter, wet and windy, we sadly couldn't use outdoor space available, as expected, but would be great for the summer months too. Would fully recommend.

Were a large family with grandparents, grandchildren and dogs and The Willows was perfect for us to celebrate an early Christmas. There was plenty of space, the grounds were lovely and the pool a bonus for us all! The parking was perfect for our 5 vehicles and the open plan living was ideal for us all to be together without feeling cramped. Plenty of seating, toilets in every bedroom and very accommodating hosts for our needs. I would 100 recommend to anyone and were hoping to book again for next year. Our only feedback would be some additional sharp knives for prepping our Christmas dinner! But otherwise a lovely stay. Thank you

I have just spent a wonderful birthday weekend with my family at The Willows. It is a weekend I shall always treasure. The homeliness and wonderful facilities were a great part of the memories we have made. Everywhere was spotless, plenty of fridgefreezer and cupboard space for our gathering of 11. The bedrooms and ensuite facilities were great too. We had a wonderful time sitting around the huge table to eat and play games. The lounge was very comfortable too with plenty of comfortable settees and chairs, and a huge TV! I certainly would recommend The Willows if you want to share a large family celebration. We will definitely be back!

We spent the time together as a family, it was clean and comfortable, it was a great place where we could meet up and celebrate my wife and there Mothers 70th birthday. The pool was a great place for the children to swim. I would recommend this cottage the surrounding was great quite and lovely.

The property was the perfect size for the shape of our 3 families. The kids loved the pool and the play station, when it wasnt raining we played football, cricket and badminton. The barbecue was very easy to use and the undercover area very useful. The kitchen table was also the perfect size for 14. We would love to come back again another year.
