Doonalton House Reviews

Doonalton House was the perfect house to celebrate my retirement with my family. House was fabulous, very spacious, clean, central heating excellent, beds very comfortable with luxury bed linen and towels provided. Household Wheelie Bins provided together with bin for glass which is great for the environment. Perhaps cutlery and cooking utensils could be upgraded but were useable. The welcome pack was very thoughtful and appreciated. Location was perfect for peace and tranquility with breathtaking scenery every day whatever the weather from inside or outside the house with places available to sit. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. Thanks also to Sykes for making the process so easy with informative emails from booking to the end of our holiday.

We had an absolutely brilliant stay at this stunning house, well equipped, spacious and great amenities, not to mention stunning views! Great communication to guide us beforehand. Would highly recommend.
Simone
We had an amazing week long holiday in Doonalton House. There was a big group of us and it had everything we required. Check in was seamless. The host had a lovely welcome package for us on arrival. Location is great. Ideal location for exploring Sligo. We will defienlty be back again.
The only small issue we had was that the WiFi signal wasnt very good so that if we were using Netflix, for example, it would constantly buffer and no one else would use the WiFi. But it was a beautiful place with an amazing view, very peaceful and it worked well for the 11 of us.
Veronica
We were a family group of six on a holiday. Having four ground floor rooms, ensuite, was perfect as some of our group had mobility issues. Veronica the owner, John & Jackie were so thorough when we had a bit of a hicup at the beginning of our stay. All was sorted in double quick time. The two bedrooms upstairs were equally good. Also the second upstairs sitting room was a great space to have. Because we had very good weather during our stay, the heat in the house was a bit too much for us. A good complaint to have I expect! There was everything we needed in the kitchen. The oven was in need of a clean prior to our stay. Everything else was perfect. The views from the property are breathtaking. It is a very special place to experience.
Yvonne
An excellent property for a large group with extensive 'break out' space. We loved the spectacular location, the internal space, the stunning views, easy walking access to the sea and easy driving to many places of interest. The locals were extremely friendly and all we needed was available in the village. We will miss the lovely cows and calves in the adjacent field and the peace and tranquillity.

The accommodation was ideal for our family of 7 adults and 5 children. The location was very special with stunning views and scenery. Plenty of rooms to play games and relax with a book. There is some noise coming from one of the pipes upstairs when using one of the bathrooms but didn't bother us. Just thought the owners might like to know All kitchen appliances and equipment we're first class.
Hi we enjoyed our stay nice quiet location house was very clean and tidy ... Hi we enjoyed our stay nice quiet location house was very clean and tidy inside, kitchen was very well equipped and spotless, the beds were not the best to sleep on , shower heads were poor in some bathrooms our room was tied up with a shoe lace, it worked but we were all looking forward to a good shower and nice bed back home, outside was very overgrown and as we looked out windows there was a lot of overgrown weeds nettles etc, concrete outside patio area was very poorly finished as our youngest had a fall after tripping on rough surface and grazed her knees BBQ was a lovely idea and we did use it but there was no utensils so we did struggle a bit when using the bbq, the end of the lane turning out on to road was dangerous, somebody had to get out of the car each time to check the road, on the other small roads we did notice mirrors were used to see both ways this could work here as well, we loved our stay we spent most of our time in enniscrone village we loved it there,
Melanie
Lovely cottage. Rooms were perfect. Excellent location although directions on how to find it were poor Perfect for the WAW. Overall cleanliness was great & towels were provided, I cant fault any of our stay. My only negative was there were a few webs n dust in corners on the floor

We had a lovely holiday in a comfortable house in a beautiful location. The house was spacious with comfortable beds and facilities. The location was within a fairly short drive to some great beaches and lovely towns. The property is an excellent choice for families or a large group looking to relax in a peaceful location. All in all we had a great break. Jo
The fact that we did not meet any caretaker or person involved in preparing house for tenants, we wondered how we would deal with an emergency if it occurred. Phone number given seemed to be an English one which I rang on 1st day with a minor query but got no reply. This is not a complaint but an observation! We were very happy with the accommodation, many thanks,
Location is simply superb. Wonderful views from the cottage. The house is fully equipped with all required appliances.
We visited Doonaulton House as a group family holiday and the house and location could not have been any better. There were 10 of us all together and the house was perfect as we didn't feel like we were all on top of each other due to the amount of space that the house provided. The house is located close to a shop and there are fun things to do a short drive away. While we stayed for the week there was plenty to do. We visited Knocknarea and also took a day trip to Bundoran. Close by is a town called Easkey which was beautiful. A short drive away was Enniscrone which was great for the kids. This house had amazing views and located in a quiet peaceful place. We would definitely stay again at Doonaulton House and would highly recommend anyone to stay at here.
The house was very comfortable and we loved the big bedrooms with en suites. Our group was on a work retreat, so having several places we could go to talk and not disturb others was fantastic. The property was beautiful and peaceful. The issues we ran into were that the fan over the hob didn't work, the faucet on the kitchen sink was intermittently leaky, there was no clothes dryer as listed on the property description only a rack, and the internet was so slow well under 5Mbps even with an ethernet cable plugged into the router I had to cancel several scheduled meetings that require video conference.
No hoover, had to clean the brushes to sweep floor Whilst this did not affect ... No hoover, had to clean the brushes to sweep floor Whilst this did not affect our stay the house looks great however the garden and the back of house could do with attention sweeping weeding and grass cut let the house down This info is for the owners a positive feedback we had a great time there and loved the house the grounds round the house let it down a bit
Fabulous house in a great location! We would definitively recommend to all our family and friends and we would love to return in the future.
