Ocean Sail House Reviews

We love this house in a peaceful and quiet location near the local beach and pub.
Another great holiday ,the perfect place , the house made the holiday
The property was magical. There was plenty of room for our family. We ordered local oysters that were advertised at the house and enjoyed the spectacular view. Having the laundry was super convenient. We explored all over Donegal and were always happy to come home the cottage. The local pub was also a highlight. We will be back!
Alison
We had a wonderful week at Ocean Sail House. Well equipped property and on arrival we found the property very clean. Location is perfect, beautiful beach a short distance away. Pub nearby and dog friendly. The views are spectacular, thank you!
A beautiful setting and the view from the house is spectacular. House was very clean, warm and comfortable. Everything you would need available. We had a very relaxing holiday and enjoyed our daily walks to the beach with our dogs. Locals very friendly, the community centre had an handy stop off for a cuppa and traybake, also the Strand Bar had lovely ice cream and the nearby Dungloe was very handy for all you needed. We stayed there for two weeks and really enjoyed it. We will definitely be back.
The ideal holiday cottage . Wll maintained .Comfortable homely A great base for places to visit near to plenty of great beaches near by.
Being pet friendly it would be really ideal if an area of the garden could be fenced in to allow the pets some freedom outside.
Darrell
We stayed for just six nights , but would have loved to stay longer. The house was perfect, clean, comfortable, with everything we could possibly need. The scenery is breathtaking, you really are overwhelmed by the beauty of the west coast. Amazing walks nearby. The Strand Bar was just a 20 minute walk away and was the perfect place to finish a long walk. Would highly recommend.
Absolutely brilliant house in an unbelievable location. Had a great week here, would highly recommend!
Lorraine
Great house in beautiful location.
A fabulous house in a beautiful location. So many extra special touches made this one of the best houses wed ever stayed in. Irene was a great host. Lots of lovely walks straight from the door for young and old alike to enjoy. Even braved an October dip in the sea. And to top it allgreat craic in The Strand Bar.
Richard
Excellent rental property. easily the best equipped kitchen we have ever had. fantastic views. easy access to all Donegal has to offer lovely remote local pub that was an easy 10 minute walk.
Sharon
We had a lovely stay at this lovely house, views are stunning and house equipped with everything we needed, just lovely
Claire
The house is beautiful and the views from it are spectacular. There is every utensil in the kitchen to cook from home. The house is a 5 minute walk to a beautiful, clean beach and another 5 minutes to the little village pub which is an absolute must to visit. Irene, who looks after the house, is super helpful, nothing is too much bother for her and is at the end of the phone for anything. Id go back in a heartbeat!
Graeme
Well appointed with fabulous views. Local pub very friendly and central to all things Donegal
Ulrich Erwin
We had a one week stay in the Ocean Sail House and everything was great. The house itself, the stunning ocean view from combined kitchen living dining room and the handling of all organisational matters with the housekeeper Irene. We enjoyed every minute and hope to come back one day.
Lucinda
Maghery is a beautiful part of Ireland the views of the sea are spectacular. We were disappointed we stayed in February the underfloor heating did not function leaving a family of 5 living in one room. Anyone staying in the winter months needs to confirm prior to setting off the heating is working turned on and has been on for at least a week prior to arrival to let the house come to a living temperature.
Sylwester
Amazing place, beautiful house very nice people. This is my second Christmas with this place and I'm very happy. I can 100 recommend it this place.
Thomas
Great house. Well layed out and comfortable house and the facilities provided excellent. Will hopefully return next year
Really loved the house, facilties and of course the views. The house was to a very high standard and the owners were only a msg away if needed. I would recommend this property and location to anyone and hope to return in the near future.
Sharon
Fabulous property. Very modern and comfortable. Spacious and everything you need. View amazing and location to village pub and community centre with cafe and beach brilliant. Irene very helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
Sebastian
The house feels like home the moment you enter. The views are amazing and the house as every amenity conceivable. We will be back
Very modern house in beautiful location. 4mies from dungloe and all pubs and restaurants. Very quiet with only sound of the waves crashing on shore. Picnic table on deck is a great new addition from last year, but needs a parasol for sunny days. All in all agreat place to unwind and relax.
Kathleen
We had a wonderful holiday in this gorgeous family home. Irene was always available and was incredibly helpful in suggesting places to eat places to go etc. The house was immaculately clean and a new suite of furniture arrived during our stay. Would love to go back with our grandchildren The beach is a short walk away, not as close as I thought from the pics on the website but the views from the house are breathtaking.
Courtney
We enjoyed our weeklong stay at the Sail House. Our only criticism probably relates to it being early in the season. However, the house lacked quality cooking pans and several things were not functional the TV upstairs and the lamp in the downstairs living area. That said, we are likely to return to Sail House in the future.
We chose location of house to sea, amazing pictures on page and we were so disappointed at the cleanliness, broken utensils, ripped and tatty furniture. The house could do with a makeover at the price they charged, even the garden was unusable, we didn't use lounge upstairs due to remote missing owner left note in book reference this. Cows with calfs freely grazing in garden. Tried to call Irene but wouldn't connect. A great shame for my family
Lorraine
We all loved the property and the location. The living area and the fire for the evening were splendid. The only difficulty we had on first 2 days was no hot water. A phone call revealed this had simply not been switched on and thereafter the problem was resolved. We are a group of 4 older women and the mattresses downstairs, specifically the single beds are far too thin and difficult to find comfort on. Probably fine for children. All in all we loved the house and the space it offered us and had a great stay.
Sylwester
Hi all. I can 100 recommend it this house and location for holiday. Everything was good, beautiful Ocean View, hous was clean, owner left for us clear information about the rules. Me and my family want to say thank you so much for everything. And we planning to come back on summer time.
Thomas
Nice house. You can find everything you need.
Kathleen
Garrett
Great house in fabulous location with panoramic views over the Atlantic. Beach, pub and caf within a few minutes on quite country lanes. Great base also to tour Donegal.
Hannah
Fabulous, out of the way, place to stay.
Beautiful house! Had the most enjoyable stay. Would book again in a heartbeat. Facilities were great and the owner even had coffee, tea etc available. Views were stunning especially with the large windows in the living area. The woodburning stove was the cherry on top! The only issue I had was that the telephone number provided wouldnt connect from Northern Ireland, so this could be updated to enable contact about key collection prior to stay.
Eimear
We loved the house however we picked the location due to its proximity to the the beach and local water sports. We have 4 teenagers and we had promised them water sports, kayaking, surfing etc. We tried to book several times prior to our arrival and to no avail. When we arrived we rang Maghery coaster adventures again eventually got through and they told they might bring us out. But we heard nothing back, very frustrating! We eventually drove 1 hour to Dunfanaghy for water sports!
A lovely cottage with stunning views in a great location. We had a great time overall. House very well provisioned. A couple of well meaning comments house was clean but needed a good general deep clean, behind beds, under armchairs, stairs, light fittings . The front downstairs bedroom is rather gloomy.. bright white bedding would help as would a new mattress on the double bed. Directions to cottage completely inaccurate..cottage is in Maghery, turn right at strand bar coming from Dungloe. Very small Single lane track... follow for 12 km past the famine walls.. left into Cul de sac sign posted.
Paschal
Nice quiet scenic location.
We highly recommend staying here, the house is fantastic, the views alone are amazing, as is the location and the village of Mahery itself is a really beautiful place. The beds are really comfy and the rest of the house is very well equipped, especially the kitchen a fabulous place to cook in and enjoy your meals. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this stunning house, it is a very warm and welcoming place to stay. Our lovely host Irene, was very kind and helpful about the area and where to visit and eat. We fell in love with this house and look forward to our next visit.
