Ysgoldy Brynwyre Reviews

This is a delightful property with everything you need provided. We were 6 adults two small children and two dogs. The location is remote very quiet with stunning views and lovely walks. Plenty of beaches less than 30 minutes from the property, a local shop and pub serving great food. Aberystwyth is close by with a stunning train ride and of course the famous Cliff Railway. You will not be disappointed with this property !
Kathryn
The property was beautiful. Clean apart from shower floor and bedroom headboard and extremely well equipped. If you like to be remote this is a great property. The drive to the house is a nightmare if you pass any other vehicles though. Very narrow and not many passing places. I wouldn't class the property as dog friendly as the garden was not enclosed as stated when we booked it and the garden was generally unkempt. It was very windy when we were there and there was a bad draught from one of the roof lights which made the room cold without the log burner being on. The cleaner was extremely unhelpful when we asked about it. We wouldn't rebook but mainly due to lack of support with issues we had and not being able to allow the dog to run free outside.
The place was amazing , we couldnt have had anything better , everything we ... The place was amazing , we couldnt have had anything better , everything we needed was there ,it was clean and comfortable, only one issue they had forgotten to leave towels ,but that was sorted first thing the next morning most apologeticwe werent without as we had brought our own for the beach, but that aside it was a fantastic few days ,Im sure we Will come again in the future

What a beautiful place to stay! We absolutely loved it! Well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and a lovely patio area where we had a BBQ. We made use of the large selection of games in the cupboard. We had a wonderful stay! The only thing I would suggest is a guest book. We wanted to record our thoughts for future guests to read so that may be a nice little touch. No complaints at all. 5

A bit of of a narrow road to get to but what a gem of a property it was beautiful with everything you needed. Spotlessly clean, lovely beds and plenty of towels. Very spacious as we were a family of 6 adults and two children aged 8 and 5 who loved staying here too. Thoroughly enjoyed our little break.
Lauren
Very enjoyable stay at Ysgoldy Brynwyre. A beautiful detached chapel conversion nestled in a fantastic rural hill setting. Was perfect for a peaceful romantic break we really enjoyed exploring the surrounding countryside, towns and amazing beaches with our dogs. A great base that we both looked forward to coming back to each day! Really well equipped kitchen and open plan living room area. Welcome treats were lovely. Every room had a great view over the valley. Comfy beds and every possible thing you need to really relax and soak in the Welsh countryside. Would have no hesitation to book again or recommend.
Angela
Beautiful home with stunning views. Everything you need for a lovely break away . Comfortable beds and even an electric charging port which was great for our friends.
Pictures don't do this place justice! What an amazing house!
Beautifully presented property
Samuel
Amazing cottage in a lovely location. The fire kept us warm and the views were amazing from all windows, would definitely go here again.
Gareth
Fabulously renovated chapel in gorgeous rural location with great facilities. Dogs felt welcome, owner responded quickly to queries and we all felt right at home. Would happily visit again and recommend to others.
Natalie
Absolutely beautiful place and property! If you want to get away from it all then this is the place for you! We are big into walking and the walks are 30 min to an hour drive away. The property itself is warm and spacious, the kitchen is very well equipped. Watching the red kites in the day is a real treat! Yes, the garden is open. However, the road isn't busy at all, and as the advert states, wellbehaved dogs welcome. My two are only small, but one of them we think she has early onset dementia. Well, we just simply followed them around the property, and they didn't venture onto the road. There is an outside light for the front and the back of the property, but we took head torches. From our two week stay we met 4 cars on the road and only had to reverse once. There are passing points and I ordered a tescos shop to be delivered on the day we arrived. They had no problem getting to us and the chap who delivered the shopping said he'd never been there before. All in all we had a lovely time saying in the property and making the most of the area around.
Hannah
We absolutely loved our stay here. The accommodation was stunning. It is not often that places live up to the photos, here really did! The surrounding area was beautiful with plenty of places to visit within 30minute drive. I am going to miss seeing sheep out the bedroom window in the morning!!
Michelle
A fabulous holiday cottage, nice and quiet and remote. The furnishings and overall presentation of the property were of a very high standard. Thank you for a very comfortable stay.
Michael
Property was very well presented. The owner made contact prior to our visit to extend any support on arrival if required. The location of the property was excellent and offered great privacy. Lovel rural setting which we would not hesitate to visit again in the coming year.
Rebecca
Absolutely gorgeous house, had a really enjoyable stay in this converted chapel. It's been done to a high specification and there's lots of nice touches to make it feel special, plus the insulation is incredible so really warm and cosy while still being spacious. It's in a great location if you want somewhere remote feeling but only two miles to the nearest village and beach. We had a lovely stay and wouldn't hesitate to return. The only slight downside is the garden doesn't have a lawn area for children to run around and there's no gate on the drive to keep dogs or children in. Otherwise, it's a dream holiday house.

Enjoyed a lovely week with the family 3 generations in this lovely cottage. If you want peace and quiet out in the countryside then this is a good choice. Owner very helpful when needed.
Lovely property in a beautiful location and everything you would need for a family holiday. Far enough out in the countryside to be very peaceful but within easy access to local villages, towns and beaches. The property has loads of space and all the facilities you would expect. Would definitely recommend!
We had an enjoyable 3night stay at Ysgoldy Brynwyre. The house itself is beautiful and finished to a very high standard. We found everything clean and there was a wellequipped kitchen. The directions and access to the property were very straightforward. The owner sent a personal email before our visit and provided useful information about local shops, etc. Overall we were happy with the stay, however we did have some feedback 1. The advert states a secure garden. This isn't the case as either end of the outdoor space behind the house is open and leads onto the road. We would recommend either securing the garden or updating the advert, especially important for those with children andor dogs. 2. Handsoap in all the bathrooms and in the kitchen should be provided, and shower gel would be a nice addition. 3. Details of walks directly from the property i.e. nearby public rights of way would be extremely useful 4. The property got very hot during the day whilst we were there. There are lots of doors to aid ventilation however because the garden wasn't actually secure, we weren't able to leave them open. Some fans would be useful for these days.
Tracey
Beautiful place to stay with plenty of room for 8 people. We stayed just the two of us and two dogs and loved the space. Wonderful remote peaceful location but close to facilities. We would love to come and stay again. All local people so friendly and beautiful places to visit.
An amazing property, full equipped and beautifully designed. Very remote which was perfect for us. Would highly recommend.
Cottage was in a perfect surrounding with lovely views for miles in all directions. Plenty of room and space to enjoy our stay without feeling crammed. I would definitely book again as it was so peaceful and calm and it was nice to relax in the bedroom with the floor to ceiling windows and have the view of the fields outside. I have been to many holiday cottages and this one is probably my favourite so far. So many lovely walks and things to do in the surrounding towns and also a good range of leaflets highlighting things to do in the cottage information pack. A few things which could have made the stay even better 1 the listing description says there is an enclosed garden but this is not the case, and there are two openings without gates which was frustrating as we took the dog and would have liked to have been able to leave him out without having to take him on a lead. Maybe change the listing to reflect so people arent misled 2 Overall the cottage was clean and tidy but the dishwasher filter was full of food and debris which stopped it from washing the dishes and we had need up having to rewash them all. 3The downstairs ensuite shower drain was blocked and flooded the bathroom and we needed to take the drain up to clear all the hair and dirt from out of it to be able to use the shower.
The cottage was beautiful and everything we hoped it would be. Very spacious and of exceptional
Such an amazing stay here! Could not fault it one bit. Everything within the house was spot on, from the comfiness of the beds to the cleanness. The owner is extremely kind and only a message away if anything was needed. Will 100 be back. Only thing that would top the stay off even more would be having a hot tub!
We had an amazing stay at this Property over Christmas with various members of our family visiting at different times with a maximum number of guests being six adults and four dogs. There was ample space for all of us, and the bedrooms were also very spacious. There was an issue with the underfloor heating whilst we were there, and although this didnt really present a problem because the property is so warm anyway, and we could use the log burner, having made contact with both Sykes and the owner, the owner got in touch immediately, and even though it was over the Christmas period, sent a Plumber, who needed to attend twice to sort out the problem. Owner was very friendly and was easily contactable. We had lovely walks locally and further afield. We shopped at the local post office, went to church on Christmas Eve at the local church and was made to feel welcome. We explored the coast down to Aberporth and walked the coastal path. Loved Tresaith. Also liked the Blwch Nant Yr Arian Nature Reserve. Would definitely visit again. Would however agree with previous comments about the outside space for dogs we took a dog pen and used different parts to create a fence by the wall either side of original door to create enclosed space.it would be perfect if the owner could do something similar.
Lorraine
This is an amazing property that has clearly been built to an exceptional standard whilst retaining original features. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay to celebrate a family birthday with three generations and two dogs, and it felt like a touch of luxury whilst being equipped like home. I would highly recommend visiting Bwlch Nant yr Arian for fabulous walks and to watch red kite feeding, and Aberporth Beach for a beautiful day out at the beach. We had everything we needed to prepare meals also managed to get Tesco delivery, the morning views were amazing, and we were warm and comfortable throughout. The garden was disappointing as the grass was completely overgrown and inaccessible thanks to previous guests leaving windbreaks we were just about able to fence off an enclosed area for the dogs, and the house is actually 300m further on than the location provided and the single track lane 1.9miles with sheer drop and limited passing places was nerve wracking avoid schoolcommute times unless youre comfortable reversing a long way!
The cottage is lovely. There was a mixup over our arrival date and the cottage hadn't been cleaned when we arrived. This was the fault of the cleaning company and NOT the owner. It was sorted very quickly once we informed the owner. The cottage is remote enough to give startlingly clear nighttime skies but close enough to get to local shops and amenities in a few minutes by car. The lane leading to the cottage is very narrow with only a few passing places so we don't recommend walking. Also, satnav will tell you you have arrived half a mile before you actually have. If you have dogs there is a great dog friendly beach at Aberporth. We saw dolphins in the bay there. The butterfly house just outside Aberystwyth is a great place to visit, the butterflies will land on your hand if you're patient enough. It's in a beautiful setting and very tranquil. Our favourite day out was to Bwlch Nant yr Arian to watch the red kites being fed. Again, a beautiful location that is the starting point for many hikes some of which are relatively easy. The cafe is great we stopped here for a very tasty breakfast on our way home but the highlight for us was the red kite feeding 3pm BST, 2pm GMT. The food is put out and nothing seems to happen for a while, then all of a sudden the sky is full of red kites swooping and diving for the food. Amazing. Even more amazing, it's free! Just a small parking charge. All in all we had a very pleasant week at the cottage. Our only real gripe is that the garden is most definitely NOT ENCLOSED. We had 2 dogs with us and the enclosed garden was the reason we chose this particular cottage. We ended up buying 2 windbreakers and placing them across one section and using the massive fireguard in the cottage to block another exit point. It did work and did keep the dogs confined but we shouldn't have had to do it. We have left the windbreakers at the cottage for you to use if you need them. Also, the grass arround the cottage is in desperate need of cutting. It really does, unfortunately, spoil the look of the place.
Elizabeth
Outside area disappointing no space for 2 young children to play. Suggest cutting back long grass and perhaps a gate off road. Heavy tractor traffic in evenings. Cottage was beautiful and everything we required inside.
Beautiful renovation of an old chapel very comfortable and cosy with superb facilities , very tastefully designed and decorated . Although off the beaten track up a single track road it was a very quiet and relaxing break which we much enjoyed.
Lauren
A stunning cottage. We were blown away with the quality of the renovation and the attention to detail. Set in a tranquil part of Cardigan bay, with good access to beaches up and down the coast, as well as Southern Snowdonia. Spotlessly clean. Thank you!
Michel
A beautiful holiday cottage. The conversion from a chapel is very well done, with nice materials and good taste!
Stephanie
We had a fantastic stay at Ysgoldy Brynwyre. The property was lovely and clean and extremely comfortable. Thank you.
A beautiful building updated to a very high standard with lovely furnishings . The open plan room made it perfect for enjoying a family celebration. Bedrooms spacious and comfortable. Lovely bathrooms , and kitchen well equipped .My only criticism would be the outside area . Small patio that had a good table chairs and BBQ , but feel grass could have been cut to allow children to play and should be gates to safeguard dog getting onto main road . We enjoyed a relaxing few days with our only neighbours being cows and sheep , would highly recommend .
Just back from a lovely visit to wales staying in this lovely cottage. The refurbishment and extension to this old chapel has been conducted to a high standard and very tastefully and this makes for a good place to stay. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds and furniture comfortable and allinall its a lovely place to stay. We almost managed a whole week without encountering another vehicle on the narrow road that leads to the cottage! Lots to see and do in the area, so well worth a visit. In the spirit of constructive criticism, it would be better if the garden really was enclosed, per the description on the website, so, if, like us, you have a reactive and nervous rescue dog in training the garden is not secure, with an open driveway to the quiet road.
Lovely place to stay for a peaceful break. The chapel has been beautifully converted and is extremely spacious inside. Kitchen facilities were plentiful. All the rooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable. We had Sunday lunch in the Black Lion and also had an evening meal in The Barn, both in the village of Llanrhystud, a short drive down the lane. Ideal location for visiting Aberaeron and Aberystwyth. Can also park at the local beach and your straight on the coastal path. Would definitely stay again.
We had a really lovely stay here with family. The location is remote and we did get slightly lost on the way up the track road but found it in the end! The location is beautiful with stunning views across the hills. The interior was very nice and the rooms so spacious for all of us. You could easily stop here with 8 adults and have plenty of space. The log burner was lovely for keeping warm on cold nights. There was plenty of facilities and the kitchen was well equipped. We were within good distance of the places we wanted to visit Aberystwyth, Aberaeron, New Quay etc. You have plenty of sheeplambs as neighbours which was a nice surprise. We took the children to a local farm and had a lovely day. We would go back to stop here again.
Valerie
Fantastic place, well equipped if you want to eat in. Its fairly remote so expect to have no neighbours apart from sheep! Only downside is there isnt much outside space to eat and watch the sunset or a safe enclosed garden for pets and children. Well be going back!
