Beach House Reviews

Our visit to the Beach House was mixed, the weather really wasn't on our side which didn't help us 4 adults, appreciate the house fully. I also don't like to write reviews that aren't positive but I also like to be honest. Initial reactions were good, however, there really are things this luxury house needs to improve in our opinion. I would expect beds mattresses and pillows to have protectors on! It would be good to have double wardrobes in all the bedrooms, there is very limited storage place. Whilst there was multiple cutlery available, there were only 2 teaspoons. Some of the wooden utensils were very worn, which can be easily and cheaply replaced. The lovely dinning table with seats for 6 but only had 5 place mats. We found the washing machine full of wet towels clearly not been emptied by the cleaner before she left. The fridge needed a clean before I put food in it, maybe that was just my standard of cleanliness, but it was all cracked! The freezer had no ice trays, so we had to go and buy bags of ice! The steps down to the beach, whilst we had read these were steep the clear path across the large boulders allowed access to the shore with ease, however the large prickly weeds along the steps made the climb up and down tricky and the broken fence at bottom indicated lack of care and attention. A little time spent removing and repairing wouldn't go a miss. The TV was hit and miss. On our arrival we couldn't watch at all and Elisha, the owner, who lives next door, swiftly came to sort out for us. The beach house guide book, lacks instructions, how to work the oven, hob, heating, even bin collection day. We read the reviews in the guest book in which some people had thanked the owners for their welcome pack. This is the first housecottage where we have stayed at using the sykes website, where we haven't been greeted by a welcome pack, whilst we dont expect one these are such a nice token and a great way to promote the local area! To end on a positive because there are, the view of the ocean is amazing. The beds really are comfortable and we all agreed, 4 adults, we all slept amazingly and loved falling asleep and waking to the sound of the ocean. Great location for discovering East Ireland!
Brilliant location Great garden House was superb Private access to beach added a bit of class 5 stars
InternetWiFi is very bad and the TV stalls all the time because of it. We enjoyed our Holiday, the House is Fab and in a great setting. Unfortunately, we didn't get to use the beach because of the rocks at the bottom of the steps, challenging as you get older and risk of slips, trips & falls!
Rosemarie
The house is stunning. Elisha was so accommodating and we had such a great week. The house was clean, had everything you needed and the beds were so comfortable. We are a family of 8. My sister came in from the States and we all said we want to come back again. The location was great! Thank you for renting out your beautiful home! We will definitely be back!
Kimberley
We absolutely loved this property. There were 5 of us so plenty of space and more than enough crockery and utilities. The sound of the waves every day is a dream come true. The house was spotless on arrival, rooms very spacious and the beds were so comfy. The steps to the beach were a bit slippy in the rain but obviously this is to be expected with wood. The first time walking down the rocks at the bottom of the stairs though was a bit daunting but fine once you had done it a couple of times.
Jacqueline
The house was great, quiet relaxing location. Facilities were a bit short for 8 people in the living area, could do with some more seating. We had 5 adults and 2 teenagers and unless you wanted to sit on a dining room chair we had to bring in the outdoor furniture and also our own camping chairs. No BBQ as listed this needs to be removed from the listing. Also not enough wine or pint glasses for 8 people and we had to purchase our own glasses. The TV stopped working on the Sunday morning but Elisha had a replacement with us by dinnertime. All in all we had a very enjoyable week.

There were lots of things we liked about Beach House. It is a quiet, spacious house with direct access to the beach although the route down is very steep, and close to the motorway so an ideal base for visiting Dublin, Waterford, Kilkenny, etc. It does, however, need some maintenance as there are lots of little problems the downstairs shower doesn't drain properly, the upstairs shower rail is broken, the toilet seat needs fixing, the freezer needs defrosting, lightbulbs need replacing, etc. And nothing is provided beyond the basics you will need to bring oven gloves, dishwasher tablets, etc.
House is beautiful, views are breathtaking from every window. Beds very comfortable, A short 5 min walk to supermarket. A few niggles, freezer was completely frozen and some cupboards needed a clean. Apart from that we had a lovely relaxing stay at the Beach house. Best views ever.
Elieen
Myself and a group of friends were visiting for a birthday celebration, the hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The Beach House offers spectacular views around the bay, stunning vistas and the whole vibe is one of piece and relaxation. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would go back for future visits. There were one or two niggles with the general maintenance but our requests were delt with speedily and very efficiently. We felt that a general update and a few little luxuries would have been welcome, for example plush towels and full sets of crockery but this did not in anyway spoilt our enjoyment. The Beach House is a real find and all of our party had a wonderful visit, beautiful walks, friendly town and well stocked local small supermarket. We had everything we could want. You will love the views of the Irish Sea from your bedroom and waking up to fantastic sunrises with the sea lapping at the shore. A very pleasing first visit to this part of Ireland. We will be back.
A great house that was perfect for our group with a good layout. Beds were very comfortable, fantastic sea view and ideal for our dog with the enclosed garden thats visible from both the living area and bedrooms. The only improvement needed is for the pot holes on the entrance road to be filled.

I had a delightful stay at this beautiful house with a truly stunning location. The interior is gorgeous, offering a great atmosphere. However, there are a few areas that could use some improvement. The sofa appears worn and could benefit from renewal. The TV in the front room is outdated and difficult to operate, and it would be fantastic to have a modern TV in place. In the downstairs bathroom, the shower head was held in place with tape, which detracted a little from the luxury experience I was expecting. It would also be a nice addition to have TVs in a few of the bedrooms. I recommend addressing these issues to elevate the overall guest experience but apart from those little issues a truly beautiful house, highly recommend a visit. We shall return.
Michele
An amazing house in a beautiful location. Lovely welcome from our host and bread and milk for our stay. The house was immaculate with the best holiday home stocked kitchen I have ever stayed in. Bedroom were spacious and very comfortable with each room having a great view of the garden and sea. Bathrooms clean and large although downstairs shower head could do with a little update but this in no way tainted our stay. Some great locations nearby recommended by our host for walks and food that we thoroughly enjoyed. Visitors book could do with some additional info with regards to cooker and washing machine instructions. TV is dated not smart but in all honesty the kids were very appreciative of the good WIFI so iPads were used instead. We loved our stay and were blessed with great weather. I would definitely return to the Beach House, it was very impressive.
Fantastic location a few minutes walk from courtouwn itself and a beautiful ... Fantastic location a few minutes walk from courtouwn itself and a beautiful small beach at the end of the garden, the house was nice and spacious but warm in the winter , the host was incredibly helpful with any issues that arose and i would happily stay again
The house is amazing, very comfortable, lovely and clean with everything you need, good quality bedding and comfy beds, with the sea at the bottom of the garden you wake up every morning to the sound of the waves. The owners live next door and are very accommodating, we had a dripping tap which was changed while we were out for the day, you cant ask for more.
It should disclose the staircase to enter as my wife is disabled . The sofa and TV could do with updating there were no apps and tv v dated . We loved the house otherwise and the location . Watching the sun come up from the bedroom was a memorable experience . All in all recommended
The beach house was one of best houses we have ever stayed in. The location right on the beach was amazing and the access down to the beach by the steps was really great. A wonderful, relaxing place to spend time and unwind. August 2023
Kerstin
Amazing property that comfortably accommodated 8. Very spacious but well equipped with everything you need. Waking up to the sound of the sea every morning was just perfect. Loved the private access to the beach. The hosts were very approachable and helped out whenever needed. A truly relaxing house with breathtaking views!
Brian and his wife were very welcoming and responded quickly to any minor issues. I have an EV and Brian rigged up an extension cable for me. The location is brilliant and convenient for trips to other places. Accommodation is comfortable and modern in a quiet position with beach access. As the house faces east it gets the morning sun, which warms the rooms. The disadvantage of this is the brightness in the bedrooms, so blackout blinds or curtains should be considered for future upgrades.
Geraldine
The beach house was above and beyond our expectations. It contained all equipment one would need. I would highly recommend both house and hosts. A great place to recharge mind, soul and body.
We had a great weeks stay in the beach house. Close to amenities..within ten mins drive to gorey and walking distance to court town.We had a sunny week.. The views of the sea we're beautiful and can be seen from all rooms. All facilities in the house made for an easy selfcatering. On the days you don't want to cook there's plenty of restaurant and cafe to suit everyone's taste. I would recommend a stay at the beach house.
We had a wonderful time at the beachhouse. Beautiful setting, beautiful house and a nice place to base yourself to visit around. Courtown is a short walk away and would recommend Ambrose Maloney for drinks, food and friendly staff. In Gorey I would highly recommend Katie Daley for food, everything we had there was delicious and we even went back for a takeaway and again lovely friendly staff.
Beautiful house our second visit and hopefully not our last.
Theresa
This is a lovely home which has been very well built in a stunning setting with beautiful views of the sky and sea. There are steps down to the house which wasnt mentioned in the blurb and were tricky for my 80 year old mother in law to navigate especially after a couple of jars. The house is very clean and the beds were comfy, however the dining table only seats six people and the living area would benefit from an extra comfy chair or two, to allow everyone to sit and relax in the evenings. There is a well stocked shop in walking distance and the local pub Jimmys was a great place to sit and enjoy the faultless Guinness, with welcoming company and live music to dance to. A couple of torches would have been welcomed for the journey home in the evenings as the dirt road leading to the house is dark and full of pot holes. Trips out to the Carracloe beach and Vinegar Hill were also enjoyed and we would highly recommend staying in the beach house because we really didnt want to leave!
Nicola
Fantastic house and location. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Found the patio doors very stiff but overall, a fantastic experience and will definitely return for another visit.
The beach House was the perfect house to go to after our son wedding in wexford. It had everything that you need in the house. The sea few was amazing, Can not wait to go back with my Family. A big thank you to Alisha.xx
Darren
The holiday home is beautiful, the location is even more beautiful and would highly recommend for a relaxing holiday
Fantastic place to stay, extremely quiet and peaceful, sun drenched when its about and wonderful sea views. Steep steps down to the lovely private beach. Morning sunrises and evening moon rises were beautiful. 5 mins walk to supermarket and only a 20 minute walk to Courtown amenities. Seemed to have underfloor heating but no info or instructions on this. Comfortable beds and pillows but found the sofa awkward. Lots of room to spread out and enjoy your stay. The dinning table and chairs were superb and the kitchen facilities excellent. Would be useful to have better instructions on how things work. Couldnt find how to work oven but after fiddling around with the dials we managed. Similar for shower system. Same could be said for the microwave, dishwasher and TV i.e. provide better easy to follow guides. The plug and drain hole in the downstairs bathroom needs replacing due to limescale deposits and damaged edges. The plug sticks and its difficult to open it so you end up with a full dirty basin. It looks like someone has tried to use a screwdriver or knife to force it up each time it sticks. Regular descaling and cleaning will prevent this happening. I suggest providing a separate recycling bin for cans and bottles. Also label each outside bin, one for recycle. It might sound like Im complaing but Im trying to be helpful. In fact the opposite is true we loved it and would definitely stay again.
Alison
The property was perfect it was very safe , private but not isolated, had a great garden for our two small dogs to run around they were totally at home and so content lazing around! We were a party of two couples so we had plenty of space , a floor each with our own ensuite bathrooms very clean and comfortable. The kitchen living area was open plan perfect for all our needs, anything you needed was there to dine in, pots pans slow cooker etc table wear and glasses were all very nice ! There was a fantastic supermarket 5 minutes walk away. Dishwasher and washing machine are intergraded in kitchen and water was always hot for showers etc. The location was beyond all expectations no matter what the weather was like the sea views were fabulous ..sunrise especially a dream setting and our host was on hand with any issues ..WiFi is not wonderful as it comes and goes! I would return for another week tomorrow if I could ,it was a very relaxing home to stay in . Only downside was the table on patio needs welded and another armchair in living space would be nice , not a complaint just a suggestion! Thanks again our stay in this home was unforgettable
This is a gorgeous, well appointed, very comfortable house. We had young children with us and the enclosed garden overlooked by the living area was brilliant. The children could play outside within view whilst we relaxed and or prepared dinner. The access to the beach was great. The beach itself is a bit pebbly but that didnt stop the children having great fun. I would highly recommend this house.
Loved our stay, house was very spacious, clean and warm, small beach below, children loved it. Kate
Carleen
We had a fantastic stay at the Beach House over Easter. The house is fabulous, tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and very well equipped with everything you could need. Beds were extremely comfortable, showers fantastic and my children enjoyed using the toys provided in the lovely large garden. But what this house is really about is the views and the beach! Beautiful sea views from every window, we enjoyed watching the sun rise in the morning and the moon reflecting on the sea at night. The house has steps directly down from the garden to a lovely private beach, we were so lucky to get good weather over our stay so we really enjoyed spending time here. The local area is great for exploring with lovely restaurants, activities for kids and many beaches. Elisha and Brian were wonderful hosts and responded quickly to any queries we had. This really was the best holiday property we have stayed at either at home or abroad, and we can't wait to return. The photos really don't do it justice. I will miss falling asleep to the sound of the waves! Thank you so much Elisha and Brian for a wonderful holiday.
Fabulous house, could not have be better location. Had a ball over the New Year. Layout is perfect for a family or group get together.
Caroline
We spent Christmas Day at this beautiful house and it was the most amazing experience. The house is absolutely stunning, spotlessly clean and has absolutely everything we needed. To wake up every morning to see the sea views is a little piece of heaven! Cant wait to get back some day.
Our stay at the Beach House was just a wonderful experience for our family. . it was lovely and warm at all times and spotless. We had a special family celebration and the house was so perfect for our three generations. The views are so spectacular you do not tire of looking at the sea from every window. The Christmas Tree was such a lovely surprise for us. The owner Elisha was extremely helpful and so kind to us. The bedrooms were very cosy and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped for our needs. We would highly recommend this Beach house at any time of year, we just loved our stay and we definitely plan to return.
Roland
